Our products

B&C Belting Solutions offer products designed specifically for the mining industry. Our Managing Director, Graham Warner, is at the forefront of our innovative designs.

All B&C Belting Solutions’ products have been designed to minimise third party installation. Our systems are designed to be 'plug and play'. There are no special training requirements or skills required to install, maintain and operate any of the systems.

Belt Management Controller

The BMS Belt Management controller is programmed to include Belt Rip Detection, Carry Back Overweight, Belt Thickness and Light Curtain. One system can manage four high risk areas that effect the conveyor belts operation. The system is programable and can be optioned for one, two, three or all detection systems.

BMS2000

The BMS2000 [Belt Management System] monitors belt width and location, enabling operators to detect abnormalities prior to a tear.

It is a reliable and cost-effective way to monitor and manage conveyor belts. The BMS2000 provides realtime occurrences when the belt may start to wander - a prelude to the belt tearing.

By measuring the natural characteristics of the belt for changes, operators will quickly identify deviations which alarms or trips the belt, minimising damage.

Console Square - B&C Belting

Features of the BMS2000 include

  • ultrasonic sensing
  • touch screen
  • data is time and date stamp
  • sensors ‘self clean’ by way of their operation
  • can be programmed for automatic trip and or alarm
  • self diagnosing of the system – is it a fault of the BMS system or the conveyor belt?
  • change to the width can be set to Alarm or trip
  • the belt can be divided into sections with their own individual settings
  • can automatically adjust tolerances to the load data input

Monitoring changing widths on the same belt

An RFID tag is vulcanised into the edge of the belt along with a belt position proximity which allows the system to identify the exact positioning of the conveyor.

By knowing the belt’s location, we can plot different widths and place values on different sections of the conveyor as the belt travels through the system Our system can be programmed to either ALARM or TRIP to suit your requirements.

Measuring the edge of the belt enables us to monitor wander, edge damage and over or under width.

Operations and installation

Simple installation

The system is compact and interfaces into existing power supplies and the plant does not require modification.

Ease of operation

The system is designed so that you do not need a degree to understand or operate it. The feedback from site personnel trained in its operation has been highly commended in its design and end user functionality.

Remote monitoring

The BMS system can be monitored and updated remotely by the use of a modem. Strict protocols can be adhered to in relation to IT requirements.

Maintenance

People will quickly look to the system to investigate issues as they arise. It will pinpoint the area of concern.

Belt Monitoring System - B&C Belting Solutions

Belt Monitoring System

The primary function of the BMS2000 is to monitor belt width and location. This enables the system to manage: Belt width- this could be edge damage or belt rip which would cause a change in belt width. Belt wander- which could be caused by loading off centre, blocked chute or a collapsed bearing. The system can be utilised in a stand alone application or integrated with existing PLC/SCADA control system.

Why choose BMS2000?

  • The BMS2000 provides the best coverage; measurements are taken every 250mm, other systems only pick up set length; for example, the current Loop System can vary between 50+ meters apart.
  • The BMS2000 detects edge damage, where other systems can lose up to 100mm of edge on either side without tripping.
  • The BMS2000 provides functionality; The system can be wireless or hardwired in.
  • The BMS2000 can be set to both initially alarm and then trip in comparison with other systems that will just trip with normal belt wander.
  • The BMS2000 can be used on any size or make of belt, whether it is steel cord, fabric or solid woven
  • Operators can easily obtain reports, and trend data can be accessed through the site integrated system or downloaded onto a USB for reviewing. Damaged areas are easily blocked out, or different measurements placed, for that specific section. Adjustments can be made according to the changing conditions of the belt.
  • The system can also double up as a belt tracking system providing information to automated tracking frames.
  • Unit is easily serviceable and repaired while the system is running.
  • Allows sites to use the full thickness of return cover without reducing risk in identifying rips. Bottom cover thickness is lost in the placement of loops and mesh inserts.
  • There is no excessive downtime and costs when it comes to the replacement of failed embedded sensors.
  • BMS tracking frames will enhance the current material spillage by forcing the belt apart to drop material to engage the wire trip system.

Return Sensor Brackets - B&C Belting Solutions

Return Sensor Brackets

To simplify the correct Installation of BMS Ultrasonic sensors we have designed a universal sensor mounting kit for the return side of conveyor. The brackets are fully adjustable and sturdy to enable correct alignment and stability when in operation. With the use of laser alignment tools also supplied by B&C, the system will provide trouble free management of your system.

Trough Sensor Brackets - B&C Belting Solutions

Trough Sensor Brackets

To simplify the correct Installation of BMS Ultrasonic sensors we have designed a universal sensor mounting kit for the trough side of conveyor. The brackets are fully adjustable and sturdy to enable correct alignment and stability when in operation. With the use of laser alignment tools also supplied by B&C, the system will provide trouble free management of your system.

Ultrasonic Belt Sensors - B&C Belting Solutions

Ultrasonic Belt Sensors

After extensive research B&C decided the best available sensor technology for the BMS2000 system was Ultrasonic. These sensors provide the BMS with an analogue signal directly proportional to distance from the belt edge, furthermore these sensors are software programmable to optimise performance. Their unique operation self cleans the face of the sensor enabling trouble free operation.

Sensor Alignment Tool - B&C Belting Solutions

Sensor Alignment Tool

Sensor alignment tool is simple but extremely effective in ensuring the alignment of the ultrasonic sensors to the centre of the belt. Alignment tool consists of a laser that screws directly onto the front of the sensor.

Trough Offset Idlers - B&C Belting Solutions

Trough Offset Idlers (Tracking Idlers)

Our custom designed idler frames utilises the natural characteristics of belt movement and imparts a force which enables the BMS to monitor the change of belt width. The BMS system will either alarm or trip dependant on customer set up.

Note! When the BMS offset Idlers are placed in reverse they automatically place a force which centralises the belt to eliminate tracking concerns.

Return Offset Idlers (Tracking)

Return Offset Idlers (Tracking Idlers)

Our custom designed idler frames utilises the natural characteristics of belt movement and imparts a force which enables the BMS to monitor the change of belt width. With this forced change the BMS system will either alarm or trip dependant on customer set up.

Note! When the BMS offset Idlers are placed in reverse they automatically place a force which centralises the belt to eliminate tracking concerns.

Carry back protection - B&C Belting Solutions

Carry back detection

The ability to detect carryback is one of the key fundamental requirements in minimising the length of damage to systems. The carryback detection system has been designed to effectively detect any carryback on the return side of a conveyor belt.

This system eliminates technician's interference in adjusting return detection so they become inoperable. (Tying up of wires or the removal totally) This practice exposes the belt to higher risk in relation to not detecting issues as they occur on the system such as wander, spillage and belt rips.

Functionality:
System operates by installing a photoelectric sensor on the return side of the belt just behind the transfer. Any carryback is quickly detected which shuts down the system. The system cannot be reset from a control but requires an individual to reset at the location.

This unique system is programable to allow a set number of particles or no particles to pass through the sensors.

Overburden Height Detection - B&C Belting Solutions

Overburden height detection

The ability to detect overburden is one of the key fundamental requirements in minimising damage to systems where multiple loading/transfers are utilised. The Overburden detection system ensures that there is no interaction between overheight material and system infrastructure on the outgoing side of the material flow.

Functionality:
System operates by installing a photoelectric sensor on the carry side of the belt at predetermined height and location behind the oncoming infrastructure, the distance will be great enough to allow belt movement to cease prior to material colliding with infrastructure.
